Problems to Look Out for in Popular Ford F-150 Trucks

The Ford F-150 trucks are more than just a brand of full-sized pickups. This make of trucks has become an American icon and the sales figures are there to prove it. These trucks are the first ones that come to mind whenever a user’s looking for a used pickup truck.

However, you should be careful to look at the problems associated with each model. Some of them are minute while others can even endanger you while you’re driving. While most issues have been fixed by Ford or the original owners, you can still encounter them.

If you’re looking for a used F-150 for Sale; ensure it doesn’t have one or more of the following problems:

2007 Ford F-150 Problems

The 2007 Ford F150 was a good year considering that the preceding model had airbag deployment issues. Some users do complain of the engine being rough at idle, cam phaser issues, and/or problems with the default spark plugs. Regarding vanity, there were some complaints about the hood corroding.

2008 Ford F-150 Problems

The 2008 Ford F150 saw an improvement in most of the aforementioned issues. However, the problems with the spark plugs still remained in some of these models.

2010 Ford F-150 Problems

The 2010 F150 was a part of the 12th generation of the make, which had its own set of issues. This truck has also been known to have several problems such as gasket leakages and unwanted transmission shifting. The latter even led to a recall for this truck.

2013 Ford F-150 Problems

This truck came with the transmission issues fixed but it wasn’t without its flaws. Some 2013 F150 owners have complained about the passenger side head gasket leaking oil. Other than this, it featured some of the problems associated with the 12th generation F150.

These include rough engine idling and ignition coil failures. At a time, it also featured issues with the infotainment system.

2014 Ford F-150 Problems

This Ford F150 came with most of the issues fixed up. The only thing to look out for is that the gasket might be prone to oil leakage.

Another problem it seemed to have was the infotainment system and some of the features controlled from it.

2016 Ford F-150 Problems

Apart from the issues mentioned above, some users complain that the 2016 F150 Lariat and the F150 Platinum have problems with the seat cooling feature. Not even the King Ranch trucks were safe as drivers reported that the 2016 Ford F150 King Ranch was also prone to these problems.
